crafty plans for october

Every month I aim to set myself, and complete, a ‘crafty challenge’ – a personal goal to help improve my knitting and crochet, and to embolden me to react to all the patterns and inspiration that is available on the internet! By sharing this with you I feel more encouraged to branch out and do these challenges by the end of the same month, and hopefully you will be interested in what I am working. Perhaps it will help inspire you to try something new as well?

I've been thinking about what I want to get done this month, and I partially thought that, because I want to get so much done I ought not to bother with setting myself a challenge this month. But that's a silly idea, because this is the perfect opportunity to make a list of all the things I hope to do this month, and then I have a bar set to try and tick them off this month!

Finish the #spiceoflifecal blanket by the 1st November
As you know I'm joining in this month with the Spice of Life Crochet Along, and I'm currently making my way through part 3 of the 7 part pattern. I'm quite hopeful that I will finish each section as the new one comes out, which means with the last pattern coming out on 27th October, I ought to have it finished by the end of the month. That would feel AWESOME as a) it would be one large Christmas present already done before Christmas commissions (hopefully) come in, and b) I've only ever actually finished one blanket ever, and that took 2 years ... learning to commit to finishing the larger patterns!

Organise the geeky knitter's Christmas craft swap
This one I'm pretty excited, and nervous, about! My mum used to LOVE doing craft swaps (though, admittedly, she wasn't always on time sending her swaps back out) and I always loved seeing what she received in her packages. Christmas/December/Winter, for me, is the BEST time of year, and I want to organise a Craft Swap for other people who think that way. You may remember I mentioned something about this over summer.
More details to come on the blog around the middle of this month - interested parties watch out :)

Finish at least one WIP
As everyone who knits and crochets preaches, you can never have too many WIPs (works in progress for those who don't know). I too am of this opinion, but with the number of things I want to get done and start, before finishing my current projects, I think it will be a boost to my confidence and drive to finish at least one WIP this month. I have my heart set on finishing the stash buster blanket, but this is unlikely while I work on the spice of life, so instead I think the Sith Totoro is a more likely candidate - I only really need to get him dressed and armed now!

Add at least 2 new products to the new Etsy shop
Ok, this may seem a little contradictory after having just saying I need to finish some existing projects, but I have SO MANY ideas in my head, I'll be upset with myself if I can't stock the shop at least a little bit more, particularly in the run up to Christmas. Ben has already started some new paintings for the shop so that's a start, I'm thinking some Harry Potter themed knits for my contribution.

There you have it - quite the project list this month. If I can tick at least 2 off this list come the 31st I will be happy, if I can manage 3 I will be over the moon, and all 4 deserves a large G & T if you ask me! Can you tell I was getting a little excited too, apologies for all the capital letters!

What do you want to get done this month - crafty or otherwise? :)
